USCIS Begins to Release H-1B Lottery Results

USCIS opened the H-1B electronic registration period on March 1, 2022 at noon eastern time. During the registration period, companies or their representatives have been logging into their myUSCIS accounts and submitting their candidates through the system. USCIS closed the electronic registration period on March 18, 2022 at noon eastern time.

This morning, myUSCIS account holders and representatives received an email indicating there was action taken on a case in the myUSCIS account used to register candidates this year. USCIS has made the selections for the FY 2023 H-1B cap season. The myUSCIS account will now show which candidates were selected. You can download the selection notice for each selected candidate. The selection notice will look like this:

The Selection Notice contains the confirmation number, identifying information for the Petitioner and Beneficiary, and indicates whether the registration was selected in the regular cap or master's cap. Further, the selection notice indicates to which service center the H-1B cap petition needs to be filed. As in prior years, the period for filing an H-1B cap petition will be April 1, 2022 through June 30, 2022.

Last year, USCIS updated selections over the course of a few days, so it is possible that we may see more selections over the weekend and into early next week.

As a reminder, the myUSCIS account will show one of the following statutes for each registration submitted:

  • Submitted: The registration has been submitted and is eligible for selection. If the initial selection process has been completed, this registration remains eligible, unless subsequently invalidated, for selection in any subsequent selections for the fiscal year for which it was submitted.

  • Selected: Selected to file an H-1B cap petition.

  • Not Selected: Not eligible to file an H-1B cap petition based on this registration.

  • Denied: Multiple registrations were submitted by or on behalf of the same registrant for the same beneficiary. If denied as a duplicate registration, all registrations submitted by or on behalf of the same registrant for this beneficiary for the fiscal year are invalid.

  • Invalidated-Failed Payment: A registration was submitted but the payment method was declined, not reconciled, disputed, or otherwise invalid.

I will continue to provide updates as additional information is received from USCIS about this year’s H-1B cap season.
